Oilver Sipple Saves President Ford

On September 22nd, Sara Jane Moore attempts to assassinate President Gerald Forn in San Francisco. Oliver Sipple is standing in the crowd near Moore when he sees her fire a a bullet from a .38 caliber gun at Ford. Sipple grabs her arm and pushes her to the ground and keeps her from firing a second shot. Sipple was known to be gay to various other members of the gay community, but was not completely out of the closet. The press did not keep the decorated Marine and Vietnam veteran's secret off the record.
