Provincetown's 2013 Calendar Launches New Seasons of Memories

With hundreds of experiences to choose from, Ptown proves it's always "in season"

The many faces of summer can be found year-round in the new Provincetown Tourism Office's 2013 Calendar of Events, which bursts with nearly 100 attractions assured to make memories for both first-time visitors and the Ptown faithful alike. And given Ptown's unmatched atmosphere and stunning natural beauty-magical attractions that are always available-visitors may need to consider multiple trips.

Dates are set for major festivities such as Carnival, the International Film Festival, the Tennessee Williams Theater Festival and Women's Weekend, as well as special celebrations around many holidays throughout the year.

Signature events featuring fine food, wine, art, music, whale watching, biking, hiking, shopping, dance cruises and cars are on the menu in 2013, giving just about everyone a reason to come see why Provincetown has earned a reputation for being more than just a place to escape reality. For many returning fans, a trip to Ptown feels like coming home.

"We strive to be the first destination people think of when planning a one-of-a-kind vacation," says Tourism Director Anthony Fuccillo. "And our 2013 calendar is proof that Ptown creates memorable experiences like no place else. We're one of the last unique towns in America, and that sense of authenticity really means something to our visitors. They leave relaxed, restored and reminded of their true selves."

One of Provincetown's most anticipated annual festivals is Carnival. This Mardi Gras-style extravaganza begins on Aug. 22 of 2013 and will continue well into the early morning of August 23. Carnival takes place during Ptown's weeklong Gay Pride revelry, and its welcoming environment, fun-loving vibe and cohort of revelers embody Provincetown's vibrant and accepting personality.

Gay men will note the return of the popular Snowbound Leather Weekend (Feb. 22-24), Fourth of July week festivities, Bear Week (July 13-21) and Mates Leather Weekend (Oct. 3-6). Numerous gatherings are planned for women as well, including Single Women's Weekend (May 17-19), Women of Color Weekend (May 30-June 2), Girl Splash (July 23-27), and Women's Week (October 14-20.) In addition, the Miss Gay Massachusetts contest takes place April 13-14.

Other notable returning items on the calendar includes the Provincetown International Film Festival (June 19-23), Portuguese Festival (June 27-30), Family Week (August 3-10), Taste of Provincetown (August 24), Great Provincetown Schooner Regatta (Sept. 2-6), Ten Days of Art (Sept. 13-22), Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival (Sept. 26-29), and Lighting of the Lobster Pot (November 30).

In addition, special events are planned around several holidays, including Valentine's Day, President's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Patriots Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
