Marcel-Valentin-Louis-Eugène-Georges Proust was born in Anteuil, France in 1871 into a wealthy family. Proust is famous for the fourteen part novel A la Recherche du Temps Perdu, or Remembrance of Things Past/ In Search of Lost Time. Proust deliberately made some of his characters female when they were based on men. The character Albertina is based on Proust's chauffeur and lover Alfred Agostinelli.
