Journalist and radio commentator Dorothy Thompson was born July 8th, 1894 in Lancaster, NY. Thompson's became an overnight sensation when Hitler expelled her from Germany for her critical views. As her marriage to Sinclair Lewis was falling apart in 1931, Thompson met and began to fall in love with Baroness Hatvany, who, using the pseudonym Christa Winsloe, wrote Madchen In Uniform about schoolgirls in love.
